How to Hang Christmas Stockings the Easy Way
Fa la la la la la la la LAAAAAA! It’s that time of year again! The Christmas Stockings are one of my favorite decorations, especially now that we’ve got lots of them (of course the dogs get their own stockings, we are the DIY Doghouse after all).
This year I came up with this no-fuss easy way to hang stockings and I LOVED how simple it was. Previously we had these weighted snowflakes that hung one stocking each, but they were so tall that they blocked the bottom of the TV above the fireplace. Plus, I read this really sad story from an Instagram friend about a toddler that pulled a stocking down that had one of those weighted hangers and it hit the baby in the head and she lost an eye. So there ya go. That was enough for me.
Here’s our fireplace this year! If you can’t already tell, I got a cheap (I’m talking $10, people!!) curtain rod from Amazon and hung our stockings using the brackets from the curtain without damaging our fireplace.
I loved that the curtain rod was flush with the mantle. We don’t have the TV up there any more, but if it were, this wouldn’t obstruct the TV screen… your husbands can rest easy!
Hanging this was the easiest ever! I took the brackets that came with the curtain rod and bent them until they were flat, like you see in the picture above. Since this was a very inexpensive rod, the metal was very pliable. Once I got it to be pretty flat, I used command strips to stick it to the mantle!
I did this for each of the brackets available. Two on the ends and one in the middle to support the weight. This worked perfectly for me! Clean up was a breeze and it didn’t scratch, discolor, or stain the mantle!
